Severe weather and flooding rains possible on Memorial Day

Strong to severe storms will be possible Memorial Day from south Texas across the Plains into the Midwest. Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and hail are all possible especially across eastern Texas. In addition, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast from parts of Texas to the lower Miss. Valley increasing the flash and river flooding concerns, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain possible.

Memorial Day
Scattered rain showers before 5pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of fog after 2pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature rising to near 14 by 8am, then falling to around 6 during the remainder of the day. Calm wind becoming north northeast 5 to 10 km/h. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tonight
Scattered rain and snow showers before 10pm, then scattered rain showers. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of fog before 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near -16 by 9pm, then rising to around -8 during the remainder of the night. Light and variable wind becoming west northwest 8 to 13 km/h in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
